About

We are a small team of US Chicago and India-based data scientists and data engineers who believe powerful software should be fast, private, and fully under the user’s control. VaultBook was born from a simple idea shared among a group of developers: build a secure, offline knowledge system that can handle real-world workloads without relying on the cloud.

Built by Developers Who Value Efficiency

After years of dealing with slow tools, cloud lock-ins, and privacy trade-offs, we wanted something truly efficient. Our goal is to create a workspace that:

  • Opens quickly and works smoothly on any device
  • Handles large attachments without slowing down
  • Organizes thousands of notes with ease
  • Keeps sensitive data protected by default
  • Works perfectly offline, anytime and anywhere

VaultBook is built for researchers, students, health professionals, legal teams, engineers, analysts, and anyone needing a secure, long-term home for important information.

Powered by Open-Source Foundations

VaultBook is built using clean, modular, open-source technologies. We rely on open standards, transparent architecture, and well-designed local-first code. Our development principles include:

  • Powerful, efficient JavaScript
  • Local-first data ownership
  • No dependencies on external servers
  • Compatibility over complexity
  • Privacy and performance as core values

We continuously refine features based on real user needs and our own workflows. Every update is designed to make the app faster, more secure, and more capable.

Focused on Features That Matter

Instead of chasing trends, we focus on practical tools that support serious work. VaultBook includes:

  • Search across notes and large attachments
  • Organize using Pages, Labels, and Hierarchy
  • Password protection and offline security
  • Local encryption and on-device storage
  • Version history with no cloud dependency
  • OCR for images and support for PDFs, Word, Excel, MSG files, and more

Committed to Privacy

VaultBook does not store your files, run cloud sync, or track what you do. Your data stays fully on your device, encrypted and protected. We do not collect analytics, require accounts, or send your notes to any server—ever.

Why We Build This

We created VaultBook because we needed a tool that didn’t exist: a private, offline, feature-rich note system that respects users and performs consistently whether online or not. We believe people deserve tools that are dependable, secure, and efficient without hidden trade-offs.

What’s Next

Our roadmap includes refinements to search, indexing, analytics, visualization tools, advanced document handling, and expanded workflow features — all while keeping everything fully offline and completely private.
